  • Faith Fairchild, caterer and wife of a New England minister, finds herself catering for a Hollywood update of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter when a movie crew spends some weeks filming on location in Faith s village of Alesford, Massachusetts The mystery is divided between the hijinks and hysterics of the Hollywood crowd and a local election for selectman The resolution beggars belief, and some of the writing about the actors, director and crew veers into the clich I hope the next book [...]

  • BK 5 in Faith Fairchild series finds her winning the catering contract for the film shoot of A, a modern retelling of Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter The town of Aleford is taken over by the egocentric director, cast, crew and all the extras, amid hotly contested election for town selectman True to form Faith is in the thick of it from her Black Bean soup laced with Chocolax, while trying to cater to all the diverse personalities, amid jealousy, lust, lies and nasty little tricks that turn lethal [...]

  • Faith is hired to do the food for a birthday party for a once famous Broadway producer All the people who were involved in his last show twenty years ago, which was a colossal flop, will be there Although Faith has misgivings about the project, she is offered a very large sum of money and she is curious to see the gorgeous mansion on a secluded property.

  • Ah, the joys of election time in a small New England town All that energy and excitement can be overshadowed by only one thing the making of a movie This is a fun book where a New England town, an election, and the making of a movie come together in some, well, delectably murderous ways Perhaps I should explain Faith Fairchild has been asked to cater for a movie company that has come to her small community to remake Hawthorne s classic The Scarlet Letter Among those working for the company is a [...]

  • Fifth in the Faith Fairchild cooking mystery as this amateur sleuth investigates between catering jobs, family, and her minister husband My Take Well, duh, it took forever for me to figure out the relevance on the so very obvious title My first thoughts were broken arms, etc.It s interesting but those shallow dips into the behind the scenes action of both the film and the campaign were ho hum Then the acceptance and rejection by John Dunne of Faith s detective abilities. It s an enjoyable read, b [...]

  • I enjoy the heck out of reading cozies, especially well written ones like the ones I ve read in this series I have chosen to continue reading them out of order and it hasn t diminished my enjoyment Faith Fairchild is the wife of a minister, mother to two adorable younguns, owner and head chef of a catering firm, Have Faith And she still finds time to stumble over dead bodies and mysteries galore in the small town of Aleford, Massachusetts This episode has Faith hired to cater the film crew of a [...]

  • Faith actually liked her children this time, which was good, and I just found it interesting and to the point this time.Note I ve read this entire series up to The Body in the Attic, and the best rating I ve given any of them is 2 stars, which is sad and says a lot about the series I kept reading because it really has potential but it never lives up to it, so save yourself the trouble and agony and try a a different series, such as Carolyn Hart s Death On Demand series, most of which are fun an [...]

  • AsThe Body in the Cast opens, Faith Fairchild is back in Aleford, Mass with her second child, baby Amy, safely born, and her catering business getting up and running again It s a stroke of good fortune for her that an eccentric director has chosen Aleford as the location for his updated version of Hawthorne sThe Scarlet Letter and Faith gets the catering contract Meanwhile, a local political race is keeping things humming among the townspeople As misfortunes, some of them culinary, begin to bede [...]

  • It s spring in Aleford, Massachusetts The big news is that Hollywood has come to town via a movie crew location shooting for a new version of The Scarlet Letter In local news, passions are heating up in an election race Our not your typical minister s wife, Faith Fairchild, has her catering business, Have Faith, up running serving the movie s cast crew And, of course, soon enough we have some nasty pranks occurring followed by dead bodies.I d actually give this 3.5 stars I like Faith, her husban [...]

  • Faith Fairchild is hired to provide food services for the cast of a major movie being filmed in Aleford, Massachusetts The body count begins shortly thereafter with the discovery of the body of one of the cast members and then the body of a local man who is running for town selectman This is a good series but I get a little aggravated when Faith, who is so smart at solving murders, can t see obvious things that happen right in front of her It gets old but happens in almost every one of the books [...]

  • A Faith Fairchild mystery I read several of these years ago and always liked them And I remember why now Faith, Tom a minister who isn t heavy handed about it , their children and the residents of Aleford are endearing and humorous and intelligent But the mystery itself wasn t terribly interesting and the cast of characters was enormous because a movie company came to town Hard to keep all the dramatis personae straight Not her best 3.5 stars.

  • This book is fairly typical of the series, with Faith balancing family life, community responsibilities, and her catering business along with a murder investigation In this case, the murder didn t take place until about 100 or pages into the book so the story moved a little slowly for my tastes Overall, though, it was a good way to pass the time on an airplane.

  • I liked this one better than the last one at least Faith isn t pregnant here so I m not so angry with her for wantonly risking her unborn baby s life in her crime investigations This was a cleverly written book, the mystery kept me guessing till the end and the subsidiary characters were interesting and fun Continuing on with this series.

  • The Body in the Cast by Katherine Hall Page is another great mystery I like her characters They have become my friends and I look forward to reading about her family and friends in every book I recommend this book to those we like a good mystery that is not so involved that the reader misses the on going story.

  • I m still enjoying these stories Faith is endearing and pretty amusing I did figure out who the murderer was this time, but that didn t make the ending any less enjoyable I ll be into the next book soon.

  • Decently written, but I guessed whodunnit seventy pages in which is before the murdering begins On the plus side, that s the first time I ve ever read a description of a meal in a book and stopped reading to go whip it up in my own kitchen.

  • Surprisingly, this one was not a favorite for me of her books I do plan on reading her other books though, since most have been a easy read.

  • A fun mystery to read on the plane or at the beach The main character is not your average preacher s wife Another food themed book because she is a caterer It was easy and quick reading.

  • The Body in the Cast written by Katherine Hall Page and published in 1993 by St Martin s Press A mediocre read.
